Mum's the word.

This project is about the complex relationship I have with my mother and the stark differences in how we view the world. It explores how women perceive one another, both in relationships and within the wider context of society. It’s also about the struggle to free ourselves from self-judgment, societal expectations, and family pressures. Our bond is shaped by differing values and beliefs, which can often lead to misunderstanding and judgment.

I’ve often felt SILENCED—not just by the weight of being the daughter, but by the constant scrutiny of my choices in a world that doesn’t always accept who I am. Through diptychs of my mother and myself, I’ve tried to capture both our personalities and vulnerabilities, offering a raw look at how we see and interact with each other. These images are an exploration of observation and reflection, a way of understanding how we both navigate judgment and the complexities of our relationship.
